Similaun 3,606 m – approx. 2 hours 20 minutes
From the hut, head southeast over the moraine to the glacier tongue, then ascend the glacier, which starts relatively flat but soon becomes steep and crevassed. Begin more to the right on the glacier, then after about 200 vertical meters, bypass the steep section with a right-hand curve. Continue southeast along the ridge to the nearby summit cross.

Descent into the Pfossental
From the summit, descend about 300 m southeast onto the Grafferner, then slightly right to the Grafferner glacier tongue and continue along the right side of the valley to the Grafalm. Then descend further to the Vorderkaser snack station. (1,900 vertical meters)

Alternative:
Cross the Grafferner gently to the east, passing the Faulwand on the left, and then descend directly towards Mitterkaser. (1,700 vertical meters)
