A warm greeting from the Similaunhütte!
Our shelter is located at 3,019 m above sea level on the Niederjoch, which serves as a transition from North Tyrol to South Tyrol. Important base for the high tour to the Similaun, destination of many circular hikes, but also a worthwhile destination for the day. The climb from Vernagt in Schnalstal is the shortest climb to the hut and is one of the most beautiful
Hut hikes in South Tyrol. Our shelter is particularly appreciated by ski tourers and mountaineers, but also by snowshoe hikers. Hut landlord Markus is an enthusiastic mountain guide and will be happy to support you on your tours, for example a mountain hike to the Ötzi discovery site on Tisenjoch or climbing the Similaun.
